Expert Discussion in Cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

17th of September in Berlin, in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

At the beginning of the 22nd legislative period, the situation for German industry is serious. To guarantee long-term competitiveness and job security, a forward-looking financing strategy is required—one that goes beyond short-term subsidies. The dialogue focused on how politics, the real economy, and the financial sector can collaborate more efficiently to mobilize private capital for the necessary transformation.

An Industrial Policy Vision as a Compass

At the AXICA Congress Center at Pariser Platz in Berlin, representatives from federal ministries, members of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, and decision-makers from industry and finance discussed the instrumental necessities for successful transformation financing.

A central consensus of the session: Without a clear industrial policy vision and the reduction of bureaucratic hurdles between the financial system and the real economy, the path to decarbonization will be significantly more difficult. Participants discussed specific ways to reduce "unnecessary efforts" and increase the speed of implementation.

Impulses for Political Practice

The moderation and impulses provided by Made in Germany 2030 and KAS led to an intensive debate on:

  • Mobilizing Private Capital: Why the state must act as a catalyst to leverage private investment on a large scale.

  • Institutional Reforms: Which structures must be established in the 22nd legislative period to ensure planning certainty for companies.

  • Exchange Efficiency: Better alignment between regulatory requirements and business practice.

Conclusion and Outlook

The expert discussion made it clear that "business as usual" is not an option given the global competitive pressure. The solutions developed during the session will now serve as a foundation for concrete policy recommendations. The Made in Germany 2030 initiative will continue to closely support this process and push for closer cooperation between all stakeholder groups.
